Company History

The origins of the company Albano Morgado, SA date back to 1927, when Albano Antunes Morgado started in business with a small weaving operation.

The young businessman’s enterprising spirit and great force of will meant that in 1958 he had established the conditions for creating Albano Antunes Morgado, Lda.

In the early 1970’s, Albano Antunes Morgado, Lda, acquired Leitão & Irmão, Lda. in Loriga, thereby gaining a licence for a greater number of looms and for a carding/spinning section. Since it already had a licence for a dyeing section, the business became vertical.

During the 1990’s and the beginning of this millennium, the company underwent total modernisation, with the shop floor being completely renovated, layouts optimized, computerisation introduced, the company image redefined, the construction of a Waste Water Treatment Plant and investment in quality improvement.

Currently, the company has recourse to avant-garde technology, owns a covered area of over 8000 m² and has a competent and interested workforce.

In response to its competitive and constantly changing market, in December 2003 Albano Antunes Morgado, Lda became Albano Morgado, SA.

It consolidated its capital structure through increasing the Share Capital and strengthened its position in the National and International Textile Industry, thereby being in a position to meet more efficiently the challenges posed both Now and in the Future.
